SubRip seems to be an astonishigly great tool, but there are quite a lot of settings and optons (such as Options -> Global Options etc) that I have no idea how to set. Is there any documentation of each of these options/settings and what values to use in various situations?
Without such documentation (in English, please), I would be lost and I could not use the true abilities of this software which required so much hard work to develop.

At first, Subrip seems a bit complicated, but it ain't as difficult
as it seems.
Many "Global Options" and especially the "Advanced OCR Settings" don't
require much tinkering in most situations.
However, i've added full documentation about those options in CLI.txt,
which documents those options which are also available through CLI
commands, especially /AUTOTEXT. Read the /AUTOTEXT documentation to
learn alot more about SubRip and how to convert DVD subs to SRT.
