what do i need to put in my fstab to make my dvd-ram usable as a user-writable device on a suse 9.1?

with the suse-kernel, writing to it (as root or user) produces a reproduceable kernel freeze.
with the latest 2.6.8 kernel rpm (inofficially from suse) it works, but no matter what i put in the fstab, the permissions and ownerships of the disc are root:root rwxr-xr-x so that i cant use it as a normal user for writing...
