Just to chip in here, I've been using my SBLive card with studio over the
weekend using the line-in port with no problems.  If you're using Alsa make 
sure that the line in is not muted, and you have snd-mixer-oss loaded.

Also in aumix you will see linein and linein1 you need to be using linein and
not linein1.
