My Friend, >From the time I entered the Naval Academy at age seventeen I have been privileged and honored to serve my country. Vote Throughout my years of service, I've been faced with challenges where I could have taken the easy way out and given up. But I'm an American and I never give up. Instead, I choose to show courage and stand up and fight for the country I love. Today, I am asking you to stand with me and to fight for our country's future. Our country faces enormous challenges and our next president must be ready to lead on day one. My lifetime of experience has prepared me to lead our great nation. I'm prepared to bring solutions to our economic challenges, bring our troops home in victory and improve our nation's healthcare system. Time and time again, my country has saved my life and I owe her more than she has ever owed me. I have chosen to show my gratitude through a life of service to our country and tomorrow, you will have a choice before you. I humbly ask you to make the choice that will allow me to serve my country a little while longer by casting your vote to elect me as your next President of the United States. Finally, I ask that you never forget that much has been sacrificed to protect our right to vote. We must never forget those Americans who, with their courage, with their sacrifice, and with their lives, have protected our freedom. It is my great hope that you will exercise your right to vote as an American tomorrow. I thank you for your kind support, your dedication to our cause, and most importantly I thank you for your vote. In the past couple of days, I have re-jigged some of the IP addresses in the home network including the streamline box. Now, the pages are loading very very very slow and the styles are all capput. I noticed some of the URLs were pointing to the old IP (I use IP address not host name) and managed to change it in the server config page, but the pages are just as slow and still have no styles. Is there something esle I should do? I don't want to have to change the IPs back. I am running the latest CVS from today (1st/1st). Whytey -- GMAIL is 'da bomb baby....YEAH |

Paul, Lets see if we can figure out the search problem first. Under the admin interface on the left there is a box that is title Quick Stats. Under this there is a value labeled "Indexed Media Files" if that has a value of zero then the search problem is because you haven't indexed your media library. Currently, you must kick of the indexing manually. There should be an option called "Batch Update" in the admin interface. If you click on this and follow the prompts you should be able to index your media library. Let me know if this works for you. As for the play all problem, I might need access to you site to see what you are talking about. If you can mail me the URL outside of the mailing list I should be able to help. Thanks. Hello, i've been using steamline for a couple weeks now, however i am having two nagging problems. First, the search function is not working. It always says that no media matches my search criteria. Second whenever I try to use the the play all playlist function it takes a second to load the page and then plays nothing. It's on a default Fedora Core 2 install using MySQL. Thanks for any help. -- Paul Macejewski pau...@gm... |

Dave, Mask URLs is a new feature in 1.0-beta4. What you are thinking of is that each user has the option to have the username and passwords generated into the streaming URLS. This option is set under each users account settings under streaming options. There is probably a better name for the option, but right now it is called XMMS Compatible Playlists. Other than that option the only thing that would determine if users have to enter auth info to stream is the authentication setting which you can define who can and can't stream/browse/download. If "EVERYONE" is not in a particular list then people must provide login info to stream/download/browse (either by entering the password in the dialog or by having that info put right in the URL.) Hope this helps. ~Mike David Whyte wrote: >Hey Mike, > >If I recall correctly, it is that Mask URL's setting that causes >people to have to enter their login:password in the media player isn't >it? Hey Mike, If I recall correctly, it is that Mask URL's setting that causes people to have to enter their login:password in the media player isn't it? This is what is happening on the client machines now :( I am going to do some digging to find out the problem, but if you have a few clues, let me know. Hey Mike. By switching that Mask URL's option to no, it is now working. I have no proble with the way the URL's look so I have no real problems now, but I too would like to get to the bottom of the problem. I don't know if this would make any difference but I checked out a copy of Streamline to my home dir then copied the 'src' folder to my web html folder. I don't know which 'installer script' is run, but if it wasn't aware that the files were in a different place, it would not of found it! Dave, If the .htaccess files are missing that would cause the problem you are seeing. One way you can check to see if this is the problem is to go to the admin interface and click on the Mask URLs icon. Turn this option to no. This will cause streamline to not use the htaccess files. The end result is that the URLs that are generated a re a little uglier, but it is a more forgiving configuration. Ultimately I would like to figure out why you don't have the .htaccess files, since the installer should have written them. Thanks. ~Mike David Whyte wrote: >I don't have access to that info atm as I am at work. I don't have access to that info atm as I am at work. I can tell you it is the standard FC2 setup though (I did forward the info to you when asked at the end of the installation if that helps). I did copy that config across too, but I seem to remember in my windows setup I once had that there were a files in each folder (htaccess IIRC) which would instruct the Apache server to forward 404's to the index.php I think. I am sure I don't have these. BTW: I am using the latest CVS grab if that matters at all. Will get back to you with the actual versions etc tonight when I get home. David, I need to know a little more about your new configuration. You said you are using Linux, but I also need the following: Web Server Name and Version: PHP Version: And how how php interfaces with the web server (CGI/mod_php4 etc.) Now if I might take a stab in the dark. If you are using apache, did you remember to copy the configuration options that are in the streamline/doc/apache.conf file into your apache configuration (and change the path to /data/music/)? If not this would cause the problem you are seeing. Let me know. Thanks. Hey All/Mike,
Well, I have a linux server now so I thought I would install
Streamline again. Everything has gone really well (man, you have made
heaps of improvements) but I can't seem to play any audio.
Whenever I click to Stream/Download/View info, I get a 404 such as
The requested URL /streamline/m3u/Dido-Life for Rent.mp3 was not
found on this server.
If I take the file name of the end of the so it end in 'm3u/', the
playlist is downloaded, but again, each of the files will return a 404
when played.
My music folder permissions seem liberal enough...
[root@myth streamline]# cd /data/music/
[root@myth music]# ls -al

Ok, well I think my fix will allow you to load the list anyway, however the message it displays in the playlist window might be misleading. I will look into it some more. Basically the problem was that the id3 information was coming back null. Even if the tag is not in the file at all, my ID3 cache should return a tag object...just one with no info. Usually null means that the file isn't there at all. The fix I made makes the playlist item check for a null tag before trying to use the tag object so if it's null it will still work. However I assumed the null= missing file and printed a message accordingly. I will look into it some more, but it should at least load the list now. ~Mike Henk van Lingen wrote: >On Tue, Nov 09, 2004 at 03:22:46PM -0500, Michael MacFadden wrote: > > >>Henk, >> >>I see the same error that you are seeing with the playlist. I think I have fixed the problem you were seeing with the playlists. I checked in the code, which will be available to you the next time the developer cvs gets synced to the public one. Henk, The thing with the info window turned out to be a case of me outsmarting myself. I tried to do something complicated when what I really wanted to do was really simple. The OK button now just causes the web browser to go back. Therefore you wind up back where ever you click on the track info from. I think this is better. ~Mike Michael MacFadden wrote: > You are correct, this doesn't seem right at all. I will look into > that. Henk, I see the same error that you are seeing with the playlist. Hi, The info-button gives a page instead of a pop-up these days. Henk, There was a bug in cvs relating to playlist. That should be fixed in the latest version. As for the warnings you were getting about the web_server_require.php file. That file IS in cvs and should be in the repository that you are looking at. If the whole directory is missing (the core/web_server directory). This probably means that you didn't have the "-d" flag set when you did the CVS update. Without that flag cvs will not pull down newly added directories. Henk, There was a minor issue with the PostgreSQL clean installation. This has been fixed and it looks like all is well with installing it from scratch. Henk, The 1.0 Beta 4 Version will upgrade from Beta 3 (In Theory). I haven't written any docs yet on how to actually do the upgrade. In short this is how it would be done. 1) Take your current installation of streamline and move it (just rename the dir to something like streamline-old.) 2) Upack (or otherwise install) the latest version. 3) Run the web installer for beta 4 just like you did for beta 3. This time it will ask you if you want to install, repair or upgrade. Choose upgrade and follow the prompts. Basically what is going on is the database schema gets updated and new values are added. I would strongly suggest making a back up of your database before doing this since it hasn't been really tested a lot yet. I know that at some point I have done the upgrade on mysql, postgresql, and sqlite and it worked on all three, but I haven't tested it in a while. This is one way to do the upgrade. To make CVS usage easier for the versions coming after beta 4, they will be able to tell when the schema needs to be updated and kick of the upgrade for you. Most end users dealing with tar balls will have to follow the procedure above. I am surprised that a clean install doesn't work, I know it works with mysql and sqlite. I will test it tonite with postgresql and if there are any problems I will fix them tonite. As for the playlist issue, you are correct when you try to edit a playlist you really have to save it as a different name. The fix for this is a little complicated it. I think it should work like this: 1) Load a play list. 2) Edit that list. 3) Choose save. 4) The save dialog comes up with the name of the loaded list already in the box. 5) The user can either change the name or save it. 6) Maybe they should be prompted to confirm replacing the existing list. 7) If they confirm, the entries for the old list are removed and the new ones are added. Do do this a couple things need to change I think. For one the system has to remember the name of the currently loaded list. Also a confirmation step for replacing a list with the same name needs to be made. Lastly it seems like this scenario would also apply if you just made a new list and then save it with the name o an existing list (Since this is basically what is happening here, the only difference being that the list name is automatically populated in the save dialog). What do you think? I am open to discussion on this. I hardly use the playlists so I am interested to hear what you other users think. Thanks. ~Mike Henk van Lingen wrote: >Hi Michael, > >2 questions: > >-- Should it be possible to upgrade from beta3 to current cvs? I am not sure that windows media player acts any different than anyother meida player. Streamline will send the data out as fast as the connection will allow. For all I know winamp is also downloading the song at the same rate as windows media player. The only real difference between the two is that I believe that media play won't let you seek to an arbitrary point in the song. Winamp and xmms let you do this by making use of the range http header which tells streamline where in the song to start. But it is quite possible that winamp and others are really downloading and caching the rest of the song when the stream starts. I am not really sure what is going on with Konqueror. There really are only two explainations I can think of. 1) There is some KDE resoure that noatun and konqueror share that noatun locks up while it is streaming. Possibly a network buffer or stack or somehting. 2) You apahce server isn't multithreaded, or there is only 1 httpd process running. This doens't make much sense though if you can access things with firefox while noatun is streaming. As I said I am installing noatun and Konqueror now and will see if I can duplicate this behavior. ~Mike Auke Jilderda wrote: >On Sun, October 24, 2004 19:07, Michael MacFadden said: > > >>This is getting a little tricky.
