StormSiren 2.0 RC1 has been released. This version incorporates new alert devices as well as the ability to use the NWS (National Weather Service) CAP/XML file format. New weather type and area filtering capabilities have been added.
StormSiren is a tool that scans for severe weather bulletins and sends notification of such alerts to your pager or cell phone. This is the first public release of StormSiren, just in time for the beginning of the 2003 U.S. tornado season.
StormSiren uses public domain data issued by the National Weather Service, which issues severe weather bulletins at the county level. The program can be configured to scan for multiple counties in multiple states, and can support any number of devices to notify. Any device which has a valid internet e-mail address, including most pagers and SMS capable cell phones, can be used to receive alerts.
