General changes relative 5.0.0:
 - fix typos/bugs in make subsystem;
 - bugfixes to support platforms: FreeBSD, Solaris (including
   SunPro 5.7 compiler) and eVC---MIPSxx;
 - bugfixes in iostreams (formatting money and numbers).
