Hi A number of modules use the word "characterization" in their scope statements. For example: approval\module.xml Line 32 - <li><characterization> of an approval;</li> event\module.xml Line 28 - <li><characterization> of an event;</li> Line 29 - <li><characterization> of a relationship between two events;</li> Line 30 - <li><characterization> of an event with respect to another event;</li> product_identification\module.xml Line 52 - <li><characterization> of a product in a particular domain;</li> Line 75 - <def>result of a change made on a product or on a <characterization> of a product, of an activity or of any concept related to a product or an activity. I was wondering what that meant exactly? Is it the characterization by properties? Is it the characterization by the association of a date, time, person, contract, certificate, approval? Or is it a general term meaning that the concept is characterized in some way? Is it a defined STEP term? Apologies if I have sent this out already. I have changed the name of the select classified_attribute_select in the MIM module Attribute_classification to attribute_classification_item This is to conform to the naming conventions from Part 45. I have also changed the names of the selects that are based on this select in other modules. E.g. ap239_mri_attribute_classification_item in Ap239_management_resource_information_mim You will need to modify the MIM of your module if it uses attribute_classification and extends the selects classified_attribute_select Regards Rob ------------------------------------------- Rob Bodington Eurostep Limited Web Page: http://www.eurostep.com http://www.share-a-space.com Email: Rob...@eu... Hi=20 I am completing the module document_management and am extending the select date_or_date_time_item (from date_time_assignment moudule) that enables a date and time to be assigned to things. In the ARM I intend to add the Hardcopy=A0and Digital_file =A0(which = maps to document_file). I have noticed that the PDM schema date_and_time_item does not include document_file TYPE date_and_time_item =3D SELECT (action,applied_action_assignment, applied_person_and_organization_assignment, applied_organization_assignment,approval_person_organization, certification,contract,organizational_project,product_definition, product_definition_formation,security_classification, versioned_action_request); END_TYPE; Shouldn't it? Dear All =20 A common mistake throughout the modules and resources is the placing of ordered lists within paragraphs, thus: =20 <p> Some text. <ol> <li>A list item</li> <li>Another list item</li> </ol> </p> =20 This should (according to the DTD) be: =20 <p> Some text. </p> <ol> <li>A list item</li> <li>Another list item</li> </ol> =20 Also,=20 =20 <bibliography/>=20 =20 is not allowed by the DTD. The other version brings across all the iRS. =20 When running you will be prompted for the ballot cycle name - the directory=20 Stepmod/ballots/ballots/<ballot> =20 You will then be prompted for a list of modules and irs to be concatenated. By default it expects these to be stored in the ballot directory. It also stores the resulting express in this directory. =20 The previous method getExpress.wsf will still work. =20 Regards Rob ------------------------------------------- Rob Bodington Eurostep Limited Web Page: http://www.eurostep.com http://www.share-a-space.com Email: Rob...@eu... Hi Bill Please note that the document_management does not actually assign a document to anything. (product_definition etc) To do that you will have to extend the relevant select and mappings. I have modified the scope statement to reflect this. 1 Scope This part of ISO 10303 specifies the application module for Document management. The following are within the scope of this part of ISO 10303: * facility to assign documents to product or activity data; NOTE 1 The definition of the product or activity data to which the document is assigned is provided by extending the select, <file:///D:\rbn\projects\nist_module_repo\stepmod\data\modules\document_ assignment\sys\4_info_reqs.xml#document_assignment_arm.documented_elemen t_select> documented_element_select, in a further module. * facility to assign parts or sections of documents to product or activity data; NOTE 2 The definition of the product or activity data to which the document is assigned is provided by extending the select, <file:///D:\rbn\projects\nist_module_repo\stepmod\data\modules\document_ assignment\sys\4_info_reqs.xml#document_assignment_arm.documented_elemen t_select> documented_element_select, in a further module. Rob, When I try to visualise the file issues.xml, only ARM type issues are=20 displayed. MIM type issues are nor displayed. You can see it in the modules "attribute_classification" or=20 "product_occurrence". In the first one, one of the issue is displayed (ARM type), the second=20 is not. In the second module, the two MIM type issues are hidden. Could you have a look ? Best regards Herv=E9 Panetto --=20 ************************************************************************ !! Thanks Bill. The issue for us is "how do you represent a conformance class and a UoF in a modular AP?" My understanding is that a conformance class is what should be implemented by a vendor wishing to claim conformance to an AP. A CC comprises of UoFs. Our proposal is that when developing an AP you represent a CC as a module. I.e. create a module that you will use as a CC in a given AP. The AP document will then just reference the CC module. Given that the CC is to be implemented, any module that is to be used a CC should have a long form ARM and MIM. Regards Rob -----Original Message----- From: Anderson, Bill [mailto:And...@at...] Sent: 30 August 2002 20:56 To: 'rob...@eu...'; AP-...@at... Subject: RE: AP documents Hi Rob and All, I have reviewed the slides and find them to be very informative and well done. I have just a few comments/questions: Slides 23: Do we need UoFs if we have modules and (potentially) ARM CCs ? Where did the (potentially) ARM CCs idea come from ? There was nothing in Greg 3 column table related to that, so was that discussed in a different WG12 or PLCS meeting? What would be the value in that, other than to encourage ARM implementations, which is OK for testing but not for ultimate standardization. Slide 25: First CC will always correspond to AP module (LF). I don't think is necessary. For AP 203E1 (1994) that was not the case. There were 6 CCs: PDM with no geometry (CC1) and then CC1 combined with 5 different shape reps (any shape rep had to have CC1). By making the LF a CC (and module) you are providing guidance that this is an implementable group of information and I think for some APs this will be 'too huge' to consider. Fair point - Slide 32: Modular AP developers may also wish to create ARM CC subdivisions Say issue as noted form Slide 23 --- would like to understand this 'requirement', because I currently don't see the value. Best regards, Bill. -----Original Message----- From: Rob Bodington [mailto:rob...@eu...] Sent: Thursday, August 29, 2002 10:07 AM To: AP-...@AT...
