I don't really get the meaning of this bug. The star rendering does increase the stars halo size, but it does it so that the relative luminosity is consistent between stars. It is not an easy task to change this behaviour, but what you could do is to adjust the luminosity scaling parameters when your plugin zooms in. As you says, stars are point sources, their radius of their disk should have a size of 0.000000000000000000000000000001 pixels... The thing is that what you see with your eyes is the Point Spread Function of your eye + optic instrument as an optical system. The current code tries hard to simulate what a user would expect for zoom ranges scaling from naked eye for large FOV to hubble images for small FOV. The absolute size of the halo is arbitrary, and is set by the option in the View window. Fabien |

I don't see this as a problem. After all the display is a representation of stars with relative brightness. When zoomed in to a FOV sub arc minutes I can readily see the difference between stars of different magnitudes, even if it is not strictly accurate. I never expected to measure the size of stars from the screen. I did find however that using a relative brightnesss of .65 gave a much better display for me. No star at night is going to fill any significant portion of the view, let alone the 25% it does now. When a user goes to choose an eyepiece, they may want to know what to expect, as an aid in choosing an eyepiece. This is also a big issue with double stars; to greater the zoom level, the smaller the angular separation. That's an issue. |

I just fixed the bug. I had to add some APIENTRY macros for all function callbacks, I hope it didn't break compilation on some other plateforms.. I just tried build 4422. completed OK. However When I ran stellarium it came up with that same great box that was shown in the previous attachment. I next compiled 4423. The box has disappeared and stellarium appears to run correctly now.
