Hello. Here is a brief proposal for the re-designed website. I think I've mentioned this before, on the IRC channel or in the mailing list. I propose adding an additional "Ubuntu" icon to the download icons, with two links: - a "default Ubuntu version" link using an "apt URL" pointing to Stellarium: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AptURL - a "latest stable release" link pointing to the Ubuntu releases PPA: https://launchpad.net/~stellarium/+archive/stellarium-releases The exact text of the links probably can be improved. :) The Ubuntu icon probably can be the standard one, though I'm going to look up their usage policy. (By the way, if you have a Launchpad account, go read this bug report and use the "does this bug affect you" link to raise the number of people affected by the bug to increase its priority: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/245183 Of course, if you agree with the proposed change. :) The idea is to add another link like "External downloads", etc on the project's main page in Launchpad: https://launchpad.net/stellarium ) Regards, Bogdan Marinov |

I think mainly because we don't have regular builds for other distros. While I think that supporting one distro and not others may appear somewhat prejudicial, that's what we currently have... Maybe it will inspire users of other distros to contribute their own regular builds. If we start to get too many, the ubuntu link might have to be replaced to a link to a page of linux binary downloads. However, for now that's not a problem. M |

Yes, Alex, were are the binaries for the other Linux platforms? You've obviously built them, why have you not made them available? We are producing what we are producing. No more and no less. If someone wants something other than what is available, they need to either simply mark it as a wish list item in the LaunchPad tracker, or provide it. Asking questions they know have no answer is rather futile, and gets really, really tiring. What, exactly - and please be specific - are you hoping to accomplish by sharing your opinion on how pointless and rude the comment was? Just sharing your thoughts? Hoping to waist even more time? (Silence can be seen as agreement or indifference.) When reading Alex's messages I have in mind that he's not a native speaker, so the perceived tone may not be intended one. There's no such an excuse for you, though. Bogdan |
