I tracked down the problem to r4629. The previous revision of the main tree builds fine, but this revision is broken for the win32 build in my build environment. Hi Major problem building the latest svn version (4685) in windows. The program builds OK but there is a problem with the plugins. The program built with static plugins crashes as soon as it tries to load the first plugin (in my case Compassmarks). If I compile without the static plugins. The program runs OK as long as it can't find any of the plugin dlls. If I add the ocular plugin dll I get an error in the log file "invalid access to memory location" I think all was OK with build 4680 but i need to test it. The revision I found is not the culptit, it turns out - it's possible to build later revisions (fabien comitted a fix for that specific revision in 4633). I'm still trying to find out where the problem starts. With the latest build, I fixed the missing header problem by adding src/externals/kdewin32 to the include directory list in the src/CMakeLists.txt file, but then there is a different problem in the header which was previously missing, and I can't work out what it means. I'm working towards finding the first revision which exhibits the problem so I can see what changes to the code there were which might help me to understand the problem. It's slow going - I'm battling vista every step of the way. It really is as awful as people say! OK, the error is introduced in r4644, when there is an #include <sys/select.h> introduced in Telescope.hpp. It seems this header is not needed for the Vista build environment (I assume it was added for OSX). When I remove this line, the build works OK. Barry, do you have a win32 build environment on a different windows version? If so, can you check is this solution works OK? If so, I'll make this include conditional on the platform not being a win32 one. Hi Matthew I think the XP build will be the same as the Vista I will remove the reference to select.h like you and see what happens. The select.h file is present OK but not in the path that was called so as an expedient I just moved it to the path that was called so I don't know if it was really needed. The other troubles I had building 4685 were caused by the build of the modules and I think something to do with the memory locations. I re-compiled all the modules (even though there were no updates) and it fixed the problem except for Tim's ocular module. it comes up with this error. Cannot load library J:/msys/home/Barry/Stellarium/modules/Oculars/libOculars.dll: Invalid access to memory location." Plugin "Oculars" will not be loaded. Further to above XP/Vista build I just recompiled Stellarium on the laptop with the reference to select.h deleted and the file removed and it compiled without bother in XP. I will try the same in Vista and see what happens. If it doesn't work I will tell you otherwise catch you later. Hi Fabien I managed to get 4685 compiled in Windows with plug ins only one problem the ocular plugin only works as a static plug in all the others (except VirGo) can be dynamic or static. I tried to attach the execs to apublist reply but it was too big. It is waiting for some one to OK it. The problems were in the order of compiling Stellarium needs to be compiled first (dynamic) then the plugins need to be compiled after that stellarium nedds to be recompiled if you want static plug ins. Yeah. On windows (only) the dependency is the following: the dynamic plugins need to be linked with setMainLib.dll, and stellarium.exe needs to be linked with the static plugins. So the proper order would be first compile libStelMain.dll, then all dynamic and static plugins, then link stellarium.exe. To ease this I think we should avoid compiling both dynamic and static plugins at the same time.
