OK, I say that because Qt provides similar macros as the ones defined in bytes.h in QtGlobal http://doc.trolltech.com/4.3/qtglobal.html
We should use them if possible instead of our own.
In this QtGlobal, there are also macros and functions for logging and debug which have good behaviour on all plateforms, which could fix the windows log console problem.

Please not yet. I am waiting for Nigel to do the external conversion
program. As soon as he confirms that the current code works on his both
macs (BE and LE) I should say that the current code is ok (at least for
the byte order problem).
