I have three Windows 7 (64 bit)installations on three different computers. Five Windows XP SP3 installations on five computers. 1 Vista home. Three virtual XP installations.  I have ATI, Intel and Nvidia video cards. It takes a couple of days to compile on all installations but last try the windows 7's gave a momentary flash and the XP's nothing. On the same computers I have two Virtual Ubuntu 12.04 and two other computers with normal Ubuntu 12.04 installations. Linux runs and displays the splash screen correctly with these.

I will download the 64 bit version and test that later but I haven't time at the moment.

Hello Barry,

Stellarium still does not display the flash screen in Windows on start up. This problem has been around ever since the new rendering engine was included. This needs to be resolved before you do another release.

How can I reproduce this issue? I tested application on Windows XP SP3 (32-bits) and Windows 7 SP1 (32- and 64-bits) without problems for splash screen.

Can you write characteristics for your build environment?
