Is there any way for me to change the star database? Like changing name Informations of stars, just for my personal use?
Is there a common tool available to read the .cat files that come with Stellarium?

    Thanks in advance

    Sure.
Download sources, hack away, republish under GPL.

If you want to create a Skyculture with different star names, just follow the Guide.

The cat files are binary, see the sources how to decode.

    Alright understood, thanks!
Now if I simply wanted to supply a customer with a star database where all the stars have names other than the official ones (Venus is named Goliath, Mars is called Hugo, ...). Would this be allowed, and would I have to publish anything ander GPL?
    Thanks in advance :-)

To create a skyculture with different NAMES for prominent objects, but not other objects or different information like position or brightness, you just create a skyculture. Read the manual for instructions.
