Stellarium in "IMAX"

  • Nobody/Anonymous

A friend of mine owns a multi-media projector and we projected Stellarium sky onto a wall about 2 by 3 meters: the result was astounding. It was like viewing Stellarium in IMAX.

For such a projection it would be nice to have the possibility to scan the horizon (with the left and right arrow keys) in slow motion: the effect would be tremendously majestic.

But still Stellarium is the best planetarium software in the world. And the creator and associates deserve the Noble Prize for planetarium software !

I dont't know if I understand what you mean. If what you mean is to see a 3D sky...

The human eye is not capable of seeing the 3rd dimension at a distance superior to 400 meters, so for sky observation that would be worthless.

The only thing that you could see in 3D might only be the houses and trees (I believe)

I used IMAX not to refer to a 3Dsky but because I was seeing the sky on a Big screen.
