I have noticed that it is impossible to visit the North pole on Earth. One can
go to 89° and 30', but not further north. Same with South pole. Is there any
way to fix this?
You seem to have CSS turned off.
Please don't fill out this field.
I think you must be referring to the "click on the map" method of setting the
location. It's difficult to be precise here and there may just not be a pixel
which is aligned exactly to 90 degrees N or S.
However, you can set the latitude by typing in values in the latitude spinbox
in the location dialog. You can also click the spinbox, and then use the up
and down cursor keys to change the current value (D / M / S). Once you're
done, enter in a name (e.g. "North Pole") and click the add to list button. If
you want Stellarium to start at this location, also click the "use as default"
I have tried all that, but still it doesn't go further north.
Further North than what?
Works for me: http://i.imgur.com/FEHuO.png
Does it help if you put the cursor in the 30 and then click the up spinbox?
I just typed +90 into the box hit the return key and the display was centered
on the north pole
Matthew, please look at the resolution of this bug:
According to the comments in the code, there had been some kind of problem and
latitude had been limited to 89.5. (Past tense, because the code was changed
in the revision above. I'd like to know if someone has tested it for the
original defect, though.)
Before commit this patch I'm check it on the original defect and I don't got
this issue. Right now I can't reproduce issue, described in first post.
I know this is a three-month-old thread, but I think he means he can't change
Longitude from W 80 39'. I was able to change my Latitude to N 90, but I've
been fighting with the Longitude.
The previous post was mine. Thank you, matthew for posting the screenshot --
it helped me resolve my issue. :)
