image quality

Hi all.I realized that when zoomed, the image quality of the non stellar objects degrades a lot even if the original was good, pixels became distorted and out of focus. As I'm inserting new frames, usually in .JPG converted in .PNG through Photoshop, I'm not sure if this process can be responsible for this worsening.
Is it any procedure to be followed in order to increase their quality or to limit the deterioration?
Thanks and compliments for the excellente user guide you have just issued.

Other things being equal, a higher resolution texture will look better. Keep the dimensions powers of 2 (128, 256, 512, etc.) to avoid rescaling.

If they still look bad in Stellarium but not in an image viewer, try a newer video card.
