Better than Starry Sky

  • Nobody/Anonymous

Was going to buy Starry Sky but this program just blows it away. Thankyou for your hard work!
Few Messiers missing, magnitudes incorrect, have hacked data a little but overall the programming is first rate.
    Can't thank you enough

P.S. By hacked I mean added useful info to program labels like common messier names/distance/magnitude and corrected errors in database info.

      Send a patch!! Here :

If you make usefull modifications, make other people have it too!

Hi, not a patch but added data to messier catalogue & planets in config file. Can post these if you tell me how. These additions add text about planet distances and common messier names/size(arcminutes)/distance.

Starry Night is good if you want to control telescopes and stuff like that. It's a very comprehensive program, as is Software Bisque's TheSky or, of course, Xephem (for *nix).

But Stellarium is better for a realistic depiction of the sky...the other apps are very powerful but kind of ugly. Stellarium is beautiful but lacks most of the features of those others (HUGE!) apps.
