I am very new user of this fantastic Stellarium, so I can do easily mistake.
Seems to me that it is not possible to see the earth and solar system from the
space like in Starry Night.
I think that a tool like this is very useful also for teaching purpose. In the
Starry Night it is possible to set the altitude from your position, up to
20000 ly in my program, and zooming to go in the space. This allows to see the
earth from the space and the solar sytem running.
I like to know the opinion of this community and from the developers if this
is a good tool and its feasibility.
I posted today similar message but I do no see it, so post again.

You can see earth from any object in the ssystem.ini data base (solar system).
Put the object in the search window to find it then press Ctrl G to go to it
then put earth in the search window to view it.
There is also an object in the ssystem.ini called Solar system observer (SSO)
that can be used to observe the whole solar system from a point in space.
Thanks Barry for the explanation. The procedure you mention allows to see the
earth only from the planets not from the space. If could be possible to set
the altitude from the position to see the space including the solar system may
be a nice tool.
How can be used the SSO. I found it in the plug-in but it is said that the
program may crash. It is safe to use it?
Note: why if I go to the moon I see the landscape I have for earth?
Thank you for your advises.
Firstly when using the solar system observer find this entry in the

The entry : - orbit_SemiMajorAxis = 50000000000
sets the distance out in space and can be adjusted to suit your requirements.
The second point in regard to the earth landscape. Yes that is what happens at
the moment but it is planned to link specific landscapes to the planet you are
viewing from. At the moment this can be done manually by selecting one of the
available landscapes. However if you are using the SSO it is best to turn the
