Yes. It is a little complex the first time.

    1. Load the solar system editor plug in
    2. Restart Stellarium with the solar system editor loaded
    3. Select solar system editor from the plugin menu
    4. Select configure
    5. Select Solar system tab
    6. Click on import orbital elements in MPC format
    7. From lists tab select comets
    8. From select source scroll to MPC.s List of observable comets
    9. Click on Get orbital elements

This will down load a new list of comets

    1. Scoll down til you find C/2013 R1
    2. Mark it
    3. Click Add object

Restart Stellarium and search for C/2013 R1

It should now be availble. It was for me!

but shouldn't the actual magnitude be around 5 or so? In Stellarium it tell's me to be somewhere around 8? Anyway thanks a lot for the instruction :)

Mine says magnitude of 17. But even worse, it only shows above the horizon during daylight and I'm in northern hemisphere. I'll try upgrade from version 12.1

      You probably want C/2014 Q2, not last year's C/2013 R1.

Seriously wish you would just break down and do a new release of Stellarium for C/2014 Q2. I'm planning to do allot of observations of the comet in the coming weeks.
