Stellarium and Archaeoastronomy

    Dear Stellarium friends!
    My name is Chris Papanikolaou and I live in Athens, Greece. I study Archaeoastronomy in the University of Aegean, Rhodes. I need your help to this problem: When I find a declination (δ) of a monument I need to know the exactly stars that passing this declination in the past (from 1BC to 4713 BC). I have a software of the University (Stars) but it refer only 143 stars and some of them is out of range for the Greek sky (some southern stars). I need also stars not over 6 magnitude (visual range). Is it possible to create a Script or something like this and give me the Stellarium a table of stars for the past to specific declination?
    Thank you in advance for your time and your help!

    If you know the format of the database with 143 stars, you can create a new database of stars from the Bright Star Catalogue or another star catalogue.

    Dear Kird

      Looks like you has calculation of proper motion of the 143 selected stars. You can use any catalog with the proper motion data of stars and calculate it.

      For Stellarium it's not easy for get access to table data, because it doesn't have this UI (should we add it in future?). As example you can use Stellarium Scripting Engine for calculate coordinates of the stars as function of the time.

      I guess this answer can help you:

    My article titled "The Ancient Skyscape over the Sanctuary of Egyptian Gods in Marathon" has just been published. Of course I have used Stellarium for the simulations! I hope you find it interesting.{521A7DF0-621B-41F1-9686-BD6B2FC88422}
