Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

I figured that it was logging all of the players, but as more and more players at least connect, the higher the CPU usage, which takes about 3 days on my cable server. Usually I only get higher CPU usage when I have a full server, 10 players. However, after the 3 days, even with as few as 4 players, I get serious CPU usage... Will this still happen with Ranking by name, or will it only affect Ranking by AuthID? I am using a Pentium II 400 Mhz. 768 133mhz RAM. - in the kill.cfg this: "You did {v.a{k.id}.damage} damage to them" =

I have also noticed major CPU spikes with RC2 on my Windows 2000 Dedicated CS server. I was clearing the logs about every other day for awhile, and it was working great, my log just hit about 48K and even with 3-4 players, CPU usage spikes to 50-70% during play, some of statsme says have even been delayed... The only thing that has changed on my server has been the size of the log file, so for now, I think I'll just start a fresh logfile and watch for the same problem. Perhaps it has something to do with the number of players being tracked in the logfile? LOL... Unless someone's discovered a hidden couple of channels in HL, that's a boo-boo. The awplimit.cfg script stops working basically right away. If you set it to drop, then once they pick it up, and drop it about 2-3 times, then the script stops working. You can say /awp before picking it up, and it will say "no awps allowed". But once you pick it up, and the script has stopped working, and you say /awp again, it will give a different number basically everytime. (I've been limiting it to no awps.) Perhaps the same bug that causes this is the same bug that is causing the defuse / and bomb countdown (other known errors) to stop also...??? The knifekill.cfg script was working on my server, but today it crashed me about 3x and all the clients about 2x. So I had to disable it. Let me know if this is feasible, or if I'm just insane. Also, Is there an ETA for RC3? One of my brothers and I started working on testing each script to make sure as much functionality as we can figure, is working correctly. I've started an HTML page on some webspace I have, so I'll post the results there - with examples if I can manage. -No customizing scripts, other than required script changes. So far, I'm confident in the following scripts: (At least for my Config) endround.cfg The following I have a few questions about: avlist.cfg - Has Attacker weapon been removed, intentionally? firstblood.cfg - First HIT, instead of first KILL? playername.cfg - The commented line, need to test it, Expected reaction? That's as far as I got tonight, I'll try and keep going through a couple a night. Take a look at the page I setup. Hopefully it's not to difficult to read and understand, the pictures are probably most useful...
