I did some testing with 1.11, and the only way I managed to produce a
logfile without the "symbolic names:" line was by using the "cvs log -N" command
(the -N switch suppresses symbolic names output). You didn't use the -N switch
to create your logs, didn't you? ;-) (No, I know you didn't because the other
8000 lines of the log parsed without problems.)

I'm sorry, I don't have any other ideas at this point. I can't reproduce a
logfile showing the characteristics of yours.
