New Codebase Releases!

It's been years since I've worked on StarterMud. However, Real Life hasn't kept me as busy so to pass time in the evenings, once again, I've started coded on Rom24B6. I'm no longer working on StarterMud although I have released an in development version of Altered Vision. You can browse the file section for AV to read the changelog which includes most of the latest changes. If you want to see what is being worked on now, see the changelog in the SVN Repository. Please let me know if you have any comments, ideas or questions about AV as I am always looking for fresh ideas.

New theme for the StarterMud Homepage

I've changed the theme on the StarterMud home page and got rid of the flash. This theme loads much faster.

I'm going to be working on startermud again and I'm moving the forums and everything else to the startermud site. The sourceforge project page will mainly hold the downloads for SM which I'll eventually list in the download section of the site as well.

Please join the mailing list on the project pages so that I can get your ideas on what to do next. I am also looking for anyone who wants to build areas and possibly coders too. I'll be uploading the Linux/cygwin source to CVS in the next day or so.

StarterMud is Back.

Hello All,
Due to computer problems which eventually lead to a dead pc, I was unable to work on startermud for about the last 6 months. I finaly quit partying and was able to buy a new pc so I'm back and will be working on SM in the evenings after work.

I'll be setting up some new forums so please stop by and submit bugs, help questions and even features that you'd like to see.

Made some changes.

Well, I removed the first couple of cygwin ports because I had compiled them using the msvc version. Although this wouldn't hurt anything, I figured that most people who compiled them with linux wouldn't care for having the win32 code and defines in there. I'm don't know if anyone would use Startermud for thier own mud but I went ahead and built a new cygwin / linux version from scratch leaving out all of the unnessesary code.

Cygwin / Linux StarterMud Version

As per request, I have created a cygwin version that should compile on linux as well. I don't have linux just windows.

I started with Rom24b6 from scratch, Fixed all the normal warnings and added olc 1.81, lopes color, Olc autosetting functions for armor, weapons and mobs. I added class code that allows you to load classes from files and it makes adding new classes much easier. 2 small steps.

I'll add more to this provided I get some feedback or will add requested features for your own version if you have something you can't get added yourself.

StarterMudv3

Added Second weapon / duel.

Added the string.c function to note.c so that you can write and post notes with 'note write' instead of note +.

Made small changes to mud time and added win32 defines for data files for both MSVC and Cygwin. You should be able to compile this version with cygwin which also allows me to get new versions out faster since I can focus on one server and not both ports.

Fixed the Post Motd/IP Logging. Forgot to uncomment the test code. It's now shows after logging in. Usefull for banning problem players. Just get the IP from the Pfile.

StarterMudv2 Released

Made a few changes to the color of the mud. Now it looks more like a stock Rom with lopes color. I also added 5 OLC autosetting commands, Autoweapon. Autoarmor, Autoeasy, Autohard, and Autoset.

I haven't recieved any emails but overall, I think this version is still bug free. I done alot of testing to make sure everything is working right and all seems well.

Win32-Cygwin-Rom24b6 Released.

I made a few basic changes to get the Win32-MSVC-Rom24b6 port to compile with cygwin. This still shows the stock rom compile warnings and since I'm only focusing on the MSVC Ports, You'll have to fix these although they don't cause any problems.

Rot1.4 for Win32 MSVC Released.

I have ported the stock Rot1.4 codebase over to Windows. It includes the VC++ 6 workspace. All I have done was add Win32 winsock support. I plan on adding OLC and other code if requested.
