Dear Sir or Madame,

I’ve installed the binary version of STARS on a Windows
XP system. I’ve been working through the tutorials in
the Quick Start Guide and I had no trouble with
exercise in Chapter 2. In chapter 3 “Creating STARS
Projects” I am able to proceed through the California
tutorial until it is time to Create Region Names and
IDs. When I try this with the California data I get
the following two error messages, the ID Field box does
not appear, and I am not able to do anything else. I
assume the second error message is the more important
of the two as when I tried the same steps on anther set
of data the same thing happened but only the second
error message appeared. I am very excited about using
this program for my dissertation and I would greatly
appreciate any assistance with this problem. (My
apologies in advance if this is addressed elsewhere, I
was not able to find something like this in the email
archive.)

Sincerely,

Keith Bentele
