Running on Mac

John Roper

This guide tells you how to run StarlungOS on a Mac computer.
PLEASE NOTE: This only works on a Linux computer.

  1. Download StarlungOS and extract it to a file on your computer.
  2. Open the folder that you extracted named StarlungOS, and navigate to the disk_images folder.
  3. Right click on the file named 'starlungos.iso' and select 'open with brasero'.
  4. When you have opened the file, burn it to a cd and eject it.
  5. Insert the cd into your Mac computer and then shut it off. Then turn it back on while holding the alt key. The computer will start up and you will have the option to boot from the hard drive or the cd. Choose the cd.

When using this method, the file editing and saving capabilities will not work. This is because you are running off of a cd and not off of writable media. This includes setting a password for the operating system. You may be able to use the file editing and saving capabilities if you have written the iOS disk image file to a re-writable cd but it has not been tested and you may have problems. All comments and tips are welcomed to help us improve the operating system, so please comment on the main page.
