from what i can think off,
i intall a script to my server (perhaps php/cgi)
then, when i'm mobile on my pda,
i open up that proxy to access other websites.
since yours' is in java,
how do i install it on my server?
since most hosting support only cgi/php?
how do i use this?

This is a independent java application. You don't need
web server and cgi, php.
You just have to execute this:
java -jar ssproxy.jar
in command prompt on Windows, or in shell on Unix.
You need to install JRE and HTML parser library before
executing. Please refer http://ssproxy.sourceforge.net/

now i understand how to use this,
but... forgive me...
if i got windows/linux as my desktop, with 14" high res
screen,
why would i use smallscreen / pda for browsing?
if i may suggest, make a php/cgi version to put at our
server,
so we can use it wherever we go.
a real mobile proxy.
just like this one:

I'm sorry that I cannot understand why you need php/
cgi.
You should execute ssproxy on your desktop computer,
and PDA should access to the proxy. Does your PDA has
proxy server preference? If no, unfortunately you cannot
use my ssproxy now.
Yes! I aim almost same goal with Opera Mobile
Accelerator. My ssproxy can eliminate web contents more
aggressively because eliminated contents are selected
by human user, not robot.
But ssproxy cannot compress web pages, yet:-) I will try
to add compress feature in the next release.

need php/cgi so i can easily install to my webserver.
i do (can) not take my desktop anywhere i go, can i?
this way, i can access ssproxy anywhere i go,
without having any desktop/notebook computer.

yes i agree
if you see opera's proxy, you should know why.
opera's proxy accessible from anywhere in the world,
directly from smartphones.
no need to have any desktop.
there's no point browsing using pda's small screen
if we got our desktop computer in our desk.

I have understood your situation!
You need a server which can execute java code, or you
need desktop computer which connects Internet and has
global IP address.
Do you use a rental server? If yes, maybe you cannot
execute java code on your server.
Do you have desktop computer at your home or office?
Does it have global IP address? If yes, you can execute
ssproxy on it, and your PDA can connects ssproxy on
your desktop computer. So your desktop computer
becomes proxy server.
About me, ssproxy run on my desktop computer at home
and I connect the desktop computer by mobile phone. It
is no problem.
I think you could use my ssproxy on my desktop
computer:-) But I cannot open my IP address now. I am
preparing to open my server for evaluating ssproxy in
the near future.
