Hello All, I'm trying to run openssi on two identical node. First node(init node) is working perfectly. When I try to boot 2nd node, it gets the ip address, dhcp, it boots up with kernel. But then it fails to find the NIC card. It is using tg3. It's in the modprobe as expected. Since both pcs are identical, I am assuming that I wouldn't need any further driver to install. I've tried to add bnx2 instead of tg3. But I am not able to do so (not good at linux) Error message: /lib/tg3.o : init_module: no such device Unable to find NIC Any help will be appreciated. Thanks -abu |

In case you haven't already tried: 1. try it without loadlevel; 2. try running it on a node other than the node where the files are stored; Are the files in question open by the application when you are trying to remove them? Once I tried to do that with openMosix, but I am failed and stucked since I have to find out to "adapt" x86 arch specific code into UML, for example when handling signal. Probably it's just me that know so little about both x86 and UML. However, i am still willing to continue doing it in my free time, but not now. Too many jobs queued .... NB: IIRC, Krishnakumar was the one who did openSSI porting into UML? regards, Mulyadi. |

Great work! It looks very good now :) Whomever wrote the last one, it's worth noting that they don't like it much when you copy it verbatim from another website, which was released under an incompatible copyright. They also tend to frown on pasting in press releases... Again, great work! Even porting CFS (Cluster File System) to latest 2.6 (i believe that still need some work to do) is a very challenging work. Or maybe porting tcpcp into openSSI framework. Or even abandoned things like porting openSSI into UML arch. NB: Hi Greg, seems like you and I are on both list :D regards, Mulyadi. |

Guys, I'm just a lurker here, and also on kernelnewbies. Every month or two on kernel newbies it seems like someone is asking what a good project would be to learn the kernel, or to have be part of their master's thesis, etc. OpenSSI seems like it would be good possibility. If you listed yourselves at http://kernelnewbies.org/KernelProjects you might get some takers. (assuming there are parts of the openssi effort appropriate to the above individuals.) I've merged all of Rogers work with the linux 2.6.11 kernel into my 2.6.12 based kernel and uploaded it to the OpenSSI Etch and Lenny preview repositories. Enjoy. (They're at the same place, http://www.atlantech.com/~john/openssi-etch and http://www.atlantech.com/~john/openssi-lenny. If you have the older versions installed just do an apt-get update/apt-get upgrade to install). |

Based on Rogers magnificent work I've put a first hack at 1.9.6 on deb.openssi.org. For your /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://deb.openssi.org/openssi-v1.9.6/ ./ deb-src http://deb.openssi.org/openssi-v1.9.6/ ./ Don't forget to make sure you have Package: * Pin: origin deb.openssi.org Pin-Priority: 1001 in /etc/apt/preferences Once again - this is for Sarge, with the 2.6.11 kernel. Enjoy, and thanks again Roger. |
