Looks like partly applied merges from debian, or obsolete code.
In fsck.c, function fsck_device:
static void fsck_device(struct fs_info *fs, int interactive, int lock)
if (strcmp(fs->type, "auto") != 0)
type = fs->type;
retval = execute(type, fs->device, fs->mountpt, interactive,
fs ? fs->lockfd : -1);
"lock" is never used.
And we know that fs is not NULL, so what's the "fs ? fs->lockfd : -1" for?
