Although I knew that this is a developer's mailing list, but as a last
resort, I am sending this mail to it with the hope that someone could
help me out !!!
For the last couple of days I have been trying to fix up an SMP Linux
box (FCAL supported) with ssi and open gfs. Initially I installed the
OGFS (opengfs-0.0.92-dz ) version given with SSI v0.9.6. But after a
few minutes of running with a single node, the system would lock up !!!
This scenario would not occur when OpenGFS was not installed. Then I
decided to give it a try with the latest version of OpenGFS (0.2) with
SSI v0.9.6. I fixed up a kernel (2.4.18) with that. The kernel booted
after preparing a ramdisk having 14 MB size. There I found that the
gfs.o module had grown significantly in size(5.5 MB) . Anyway, but
after booting with the newer kernel, the system again started locking up
after a few minutes of running.
During it's running, I observed few prints on the console -
INIT PANIC :- Segmentation violation at 0x400077f1 ! sleeping for 30
this came very often ...
I tried to run top while watching it run ... and found that there were
entries corresponding to zombie init.ssi and one running with pid =1 .
But the interesting thing was that after a few minutes, the init.ssi
started hogging the CPU to 99.9 perc. and CPU idle time dropped drastically.
The last time, when the m/c locked up ... I found the following prints
on the console ...
GBIC detected : short wave
scsi 3 : Compaq FC HBA Tachyon CHIP/Board ver : WWN ........
on PCI bus 2 device 0xa0fe irq 5 10 base L 0x3000, MEMBASE 0xf79ffc00
PCI bus width 64 bits, bus speed 66 Mhz
FCP-SCSI Driver v2.1.1
doesn't support target function port_id 2h
scsi : unknown type
Fatal Error reentered, aborting
Caught Signal 11, server aborting
One more thing, during boot up the following error came everytime -
failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2
