I don't see any special error handling in base Redhat. Basically, there is already a S99local in /etc/rc.d/rc{2,3,4,5}.d directories. However, they are symbolic linked to ../rc.local instead of ../init.d/local. Because this file isn't in /etc/rc.d/init.d (/etc/init.d) chkconfig can't be used to manipulate it. In Redhat too bad the chkconfig command doesn't do a special checking/message if an attempt is made to create a service "local." David On Mar 26, 2004, at 2:40 PM, Brian J.
