Im pretty sure this is the same problem as described in..
- Running Openssh with Webfolders open hang Window
2003 IIS
- automated logon fail in window 2003 if run as service
- not working on windows 2003

Does anybody do any testing before they release..!! I
was pretty annoyed to find out that it was openssh
causing all the problems I was experiencing with other
services. This is a MAJOR issue for anyone running a
server as it stops other services from working like IIS-
this unfortuanltely means the software is useless in its
current release (to me anyway).

The problem..
After successfully connecting to the server through
openssh the first time. Subsequent tries fail. I get the
following type of errors appearing for sshd and opensshd
in my system log. Err logs appear for any following
requests on these services and then other errors about
other services failing like IIS.. Yikes!

"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( sshd )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the
necessary registry information or message DLL files to
display messages from a remote computer. You may be
able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The
following information is part of the event: sshd : PID
3716 : Received disconnect from xx.xx.xx.xx: xx:
Disconnect requested by Windows SSH Client.."

This is some kind of permissions problem: If the logon
account for the openssh service is changed to admin for
example the service can be restarted ok but if using the
system account it fails. There are probably work
arounds - did read one about updating the cgiwin1.dll
(as I think this is the cause) but this didnt work for me.

Annoyingly I have version 3.5 working ok on win2k
server but the only current release available for install is
v3.8.

So Im having to switch to other means to provide
secure tunneling to my server. What a pain!

Hope this is fixed soon its such great software when it
works.

Silly me! Just had a look in depth at the readme files and
found "NOTE: Windows Server 2003 is not currently
supported, this will be fixed soon"... should have read it
properly before installing.. Doh! just figured it would work if it
previously worked for other versions of windows.

Hope the release is not to long in the making as this software
    is a must..

    All the best..

    Angry, angry young man.

Remember to always read the readme file fully before having
a rant. And dude, when you are using software that someone
has kindly written for your benefit don't berate them if there
are bugs; its disrespectful and only makes you sound like an
    ass.

I have OpenSSH running on a 2k3 machine with no real issues
(except the 'ls' command and service hang which are both
easily fixable). Also have it running nicely on a couple of
WinXP machines without a hitch. Personally I think its a great
    piece of software.

only suggestion i can give that will solve your problem is
to stop using this package of openssh, and use the cygwin
packages instead OR the microsoft services for unix. both
will give you a stable platform for running unix like
programs on a windows system. you'll also get better support
and more package updates. in either case, both are free. and
sfu will also be integrated into the next release of windows
    2003
