I should think that'll work.  My upgraded system runs an old version of SSHKeychain quite happily; I don't think I ever used the pkg installer because I don't need to tunnel unprivileged ports.  The actual software itself works as well on Mountain Lion as it did on Lion, although my version *is* very old - I'm running a locally slightly customised version 0.7.2
