This is a known issue that has been fixed in the development version,
but did not make it back to the 1.6 branch for the 1.6.1 release.

If it's an option, consider compiling and running the development
version on Bitbucket (it's the version I run). Alternatively, I can
provide a patch against 1.6.1 that fixes the ipfw crash.

(Since you're running FreeBSD, you might feel adventurous enough to try
out the shiny new Capsicum support!)
