I was thinking that perhaps when the config saving/loading thing is done, what you'd end up with is the ability to save "connections" and the main program screen can be reduced to a list of connections to open, create/edit/delete and exit.
I find I'm constantly editing window manager config files to create menus to slogin to various systems from, and it'd be far simpler to have a WM-independent way of doing it such as this, that could also be used to launch from.

Did you use SecureCRT for M$ Windows? I link the style it save the configuration. One file for each session, just use KEY=Value pair to save the options and values. There is a Default setting for the new session. And use file system directory to support "session tree". I like this.
It's easy to create & edit sessions config file even under command line.
