Has it ever been tabled that we could able to login and moderate someone elses account from SM ? I would like someone else in the team to be able to others folders, but not delete. Like Exchange server/Outlook can allocate access to other domain members. I looked in plugins but did not find anything like this. Adrian Jones |

Dear sir, Dear madame, I use SquirrelMail, and it is really great. But I have a suggestion: user= s can change the header and footer of the login-page by html via a tpl-file= . That's easier then php. Yours sincerely, Davy Hijmensen. |

Like Exchange > server/Outlook can allocate access to other domain members. There is an IMAP standard for mailbox access control (see RFC2086) and so a plugin could be developed for SquirrelMail. Not every IMAP server supports this extension to the IMAP protocol, however. In fact, the only open source IMAP server I know that supports it is Cyrus and I don't think many commercial implementations support it either. If your IMAP server does implement ACLs but not via the IMAP standard, then a plugin specific to that server would be needed. If your IMAP server doesn't implement ACLs at all then there's nothing SquirrelMail can do (in which case, logging in as the other person is your only option). Even for servers that do support the IMAP ACL extension, there is a problem with SquirrelMail: it doesn't detect mailboxes available for subscription but located outside the personal namespace. If user A is given access to a folder within user B's account, SquirrelMail doesn't detect this and so doesn't make it available for subscription. If user A is subscribed to the folder by some external method, then SquirrelMail notices. --=20 Bruce I am now a little wary of bananas. |

(presuming that I wanted to use that feature, that is) No, it will be able access them if you add the subscription server-side. But as far as I can see, SquirrelMail will not be able to see the folder until you have subscribed to it. I've skimmed through the imap code in both the stable and development branches and the only reference to namespaces is in the devel version of the sqimap_get_delimiter function. The rest of the code ignores namespaces which means it only searches the personal namespace. Some of our users have reported that they have to recreate their subscriptions to shared mailboxes every so often, which may be SquirrelMail rebuilding the subscription list and only seeing the personal namespace. We get round this because the IMAP server we use - Communigate Pro - supports mailbox aliases, which make an external mailbox look like a personal one and has the bonus that you can set your own name. --=20 Bruce What would Edward Woodward do? |

You mean by manually adding it to the "courierimapsubscribed" file? --=20 PGP Fingerprint: 0AA8 DC47 CB63 AE3F C739 6BF9 9AB4 1EF6 5AA5 BCDF Member, LEAF Project <http://leaf.sourceforge.net> AIM: MikeLeone Public Key - <http://www.mike-leone.com/~turgon/turgon-public-key.asc> Registered Linux user# 201348 |

You mean by > manually adding it to the "courierimapsubscribed" file? If that's how it's done in Courier, yes. What I mean is that you have to do the subscription on the server directly/manually or using an alternative mail client that does search the public and shared namespaces. SquirrelMail will only allow you to subscribe to the unsubscribed folders in your personal mailbox but it will accept existing subscriptions. -- Bruce |

Is there any way to remotely access the mail.domain.com/webmail/src/redirect.php page from another site? I'd like to have a login form from our web site but our mail server is on another server than our (Win2k) web server. Related question - I saw that I could pass the loginname via http://your.server.com/squirrelmail/src/login.php?loginname=your_usernam e but is there any way to pass the password as well? The list archives are down on Sourceforge, I started there. :) I checked out the HTTP Authentication Plugin but I don't think it'll quite do what I need..? |

If you're already in php, you could, of course, spoof the request... |

Oh I haven't split up the installation, both IMAP and Sendmail are running on our mail server, and the "login" would be coming from our web server. I looked at the source but am a bit unclear about what you mean. BTW - Did you decide to tackle that virtusertable plugin? :) -----Original Message----- From: p dont think [mailto:pdo...@an...] Sent: Tuesday, November 19, 2002 12:23 PM To: 'Phil Iovino'; squ...@li... They show up normally in the "Folders" page, and I can subscribe to them. [There was only a minor issue with regard to sorting the folder list, but I have posted a patch on the Sourceforge page. I'm not sure if it has appeared on Squirrelmail.devel yet]. I'm not sure what you mean by "namespaces" and "personal namespace". I am using Cyrus (2.1.x); user's folder "Mywork" looks like user.avel.INBOX.Mywork to Cyrus and INBOX.Mywork to the user avel. Shared folders outside the user.* tree, or "bulletin boards" as we call them, appear normally in squirrelmail, like say Webmail.Announce or Webmail.Users. I have even modified Squirrelmail's code to get information from LDAP about these folders. Our development team has actually made a web-based administrative tool for Cyrus that allows a user to share his folders with others, place the appropriate ACLs, and create bulletin boards - the equivalent of a mailing list, implemented as an IMAP shared folder. Unfortunately it is not ready for public display yet, and you will need a heavily patched and LDAP-enabled Cyrus to use it... When I transform that tool to a plugin for Squirrelmail, I will post an announcement. -- Alexandros Vellis University of Athens av...@no...
