Not sure if you guys had this problem before, but I
recently found a problem with the mail folder names.
The symptom: I created a folder name in Chinese
(code-set: gb2312), I saw that it was displayed in
Chinese ONLY under SM (where I created it). But under
other mail clients (Outlook and KMail) it was shown in
an unreadable strings (neither in Chinese nor in
The server: The IMAP server I am using is courier-imap
with unicode enabled.
The clues: If I create a folder in Chinese under
Outlook, it will show just fine under KMail, and vice
versa. This makes me believe that SM is using
different way (utf-7?) to encode/decode when it comes
to mail folder manipulation. Maybe some smart
developers can look into it and correct the code
somehow? I didn't dig in much on the code, since I am
not a programmer. I do, however, realize that SM calls
up the imap-utf7-*.php when it create/delete folders.
Hope this help the developers a bit. :-) May this
problem be corrected in next big roll-out?
