Yes, we use the SM as our webmail too[1]. After you commit Frank Wong's effort, msgmerge with squirrelmail.pot of SM-1_4-STABLE: 1065 translated messages, 62 fuzzy translations, 25 untranslated messages. msgmerge with squirrelmail.pot of trunk: 1249 translated messages, 180 fuzzy translations, 92 untranslated messages. I fixed the fuzzy and untranslated messages for SM-1_4-STABLE[2]. Can we maintain Chinese translation for SM-1_4-STABLE and trunk at the same time ? Nice, but you should consider upgrading to 1.4.15 when it's out. > After you commit Frank Wong's effort, msgmerge with squirrelmail.pot of > SM-1_4-STABLE: > 1065 translated messages, 62 fuzzy translations, 25 untranslated messages. > > msgmerge with squirrelmail.pot of trunk: 1249 translated messages, 180 > fuzzy translations, 92 untranslated messages. > > I fixed the fuzzy and untranslated messages for SM-1_4-STABLE[2]. Thanks. BTW, you don't have to add it to the tracker. Posting it here should be sufficient. > Can we maintain Chinese translation for SM-1_4-STABLE and trunk at the > same time ? Yes, that's possible. HEAD (trunk/locales/) contains the strings for DEVEL (trunk/squirrelmail/) and STABLE, and when I branch off 1.4.15 it's possible to keep those strings updated separately. > [1] http://mail.gxds.gov.cn/ > [2] > http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1965028&group_id > =311&atid=423691 If I don't hear from Frank before releasing the language pack for 1.4.15 I'll use your updated version (and update to UTF-8). I'll try to compare your translations as well to see if you've translated things differently. Sincerely, Fredrik |

I'm glad to have a partner. I downloaded your effort and diff'ed it with mine. Apart from the newly merged message, the result still shows a lot of inconsistency. I'd like to work with your to solve them before we can commit a new version. I'll email you my remark on the diff file later. As of converting to UTF-8, I agree we should use it sooner than later, but I recommend testing it first before we jump into the water due to my past experiment against SM-1.4.13. I had to modify some of the source files, say src/view_text.php and functions/mime.php, to make Simplified Chinese displayed correctly. I also altered some of other files to replace a few gettext strings to its Chinese translation due to missing message in the po file or whatever reason makes them remain English. Hopefully your work covers them all. I'll test UTF-8 translation against the SM-1.4.15-rc1 later to see if it works.
