Install gettext editor. If you use windows, you can install poEdit. If you
use Linux or Unix, you can install poEdit, Gtranslator or KBabel.
Then translate files listed on status pages.
If translations are listed in squirrelmail section, they are stored in
squirrelmail locale directory next to squirrelmail.po and squirrelmail.mo
files. If they are in plugins section, translations are maintained by
plugin developers and stored in plugins/plugin_name/locale directory.
If file has .pot extension, it is totally untranslated. Easiest way to
start translation, is to merge main translation with .pot file.
msgmerge squirrelmail.po calendar.pot -o calendar.po
Then edit generated calendar.po file. If you use poEdit, it has menu
option to merge po with string template. Open squirrelmail.po in poEdit
and use "Catalog -> Update from POT file" menu. After translation catalog
is updated, save it with different name.
Translation files stored on l10n-stats.squirrelmail.org are compressed
with gzip. Browsers uncompress them automatically. You can uncompress them
with your favorite archiver, if it supports .gz format. 7zip
(http://sevenzip.sf.net) supports it.
