hi,

i also encountered this before where loading of pages are so slow and
those error messages would appear on the apache error log. i'm using then
php 4.0.6 conmpiled from source with --enable-memory-limit and found out
there was a patch for this memory limit option. right now i'm using the
default php configuration installed on slackware 8.0 and never
encountered the same problem.
