It's like that in the latest (?, 1.2.7) release as well, so Gentoo has
no role in this.
The assumtion seems to be that generally server_hostname is
referencing another server (i.e., not localhost) and as such the ports
wouldn't interfere. Since you seem to be running the imapd on the same
host as imapproxy you're tripping over this.
