Other thoughts on this one? There was a forum before, but it was shut down for reasons unknown to me although I think that forum management took too much time. Basically a forum and a mailing list is the same thing, but the forum has a web interface for posting. As far as I know, a forum is just as much pain to wade through as a mailing list web archive plus it attracts even more people who don't read the documentation before asking things, since that kind of people think that forums are more accessible. Personally I have no interest in a forum, but I don't oppose it either if I don't have to manage it. As a side note, I once suggested (as a wild idea) to keep the mailing lists and use SquirrelMail as a mean for people to post to the mailing lists. A SquirrelMail installation that only allows to post to the mailing list plus a web mail archive is almost equal to a forum. It was just some brainstorming though and not something we really looked into. Also, one could argue that since SquirrelMail is a mail client, we should support it using mail just for the sake of it. :) Sincerely, Fredrik |
