Step 1 is separating the bulk of the UI logic from the core code. This has already been done for some stuff like the left pane, the page header, and the message list. There are still a lot of other pages that need to be done, but its underway. This is by far the biggest chunk of programming that needs to be done. Step 2 will be to "clean out" the logic, meaning that once there is a rough separation, there needs to be a clear division between UI and non-UI related logic. That process will be much easier once step 1 is completed. As Fredrik said, its difficult to get a timeline on something like this because most of the coders are volunteers. For example, I was dedicating a bunch of time a few weeks ago to templating, but then my company fired 10 people so I've had to take on a bunch of other responsibilities around the office, so I don't have nearly as much time to dedicate to SQM as I did a few weeks ago.=20 Unfortunately, thats the way things go when you are dealing with volunteers. > I'd love to help out on this side of development and will be able to do > so once I have a better idea of what actually is left to be done. Your best bet is to ask in IRC. That's the best way to get the most current information available. Its important to note that we really need PHP developers for this, not HTML developers for this process.=20 There have been lots of folks who have offered to help w/ templating in the past, but very few have had any PHP devel experience which makes it hard to determine what should be in the core and what should be in templates. If you are a PHP devel and want to get involved, check out IRC and we can get you started. > P.S. I note that there is only the "default" template.
