No, not unless "doesn't work" is explained better.  Could be a problem
that has been mentioned before where the closing ">" for a br tag gets
split out and shows up at the bottom of the compose screen (none of the
developers has been able to reproduce and therefore find a fix for this),
or a server misconfiguration, but I don't have enough info to even guess
more than that.

Yes it is.  Web apps don't work any other way.  That will always be the
way it works.

Not in ways that will help you here.  I suspect the problem is not with
SM, though.  You should try deactivating all plugins to see if any of the=

are causing it.
