Yes, the browser has a physical size limitation from which it has to display any frames that are not hard-coded. So if your browser is sized on screen currently at approximately 1000 pixels, and you have set the preview pane to vertical alignment, sized at 300 pixels, and the folder pane is sized at 250 pixels (Options->Folder Prefs), the remaining pane gets everything that's left, which is 450 pixels.
