You might try reposting your request to the SM-USERS mailing list.  When
doing so, please include version numbers for SM, php, Apache, etc. as
appropriate.  You have to change the defaults *before* your users log in
for the first time, otherwise you'll have to manually edit their prefs
files yourself (take a look at them - the theme info is easy to figure
out).
