Please add a note for us administrators that administer other things as well and do other jobs on the Upgrade docs for Plugins. Curently this shows that they can be copied over or downloaded anew.
Most plugins for minor changes can be just copied over some obviously need tweaking (forced_prefs, image buttons).
To cut down on issues and forgetting about plugins, put a MUST DO in Upgrades to ALWAYS get the latest compatibility plugin.
This may seem obvious to you but when you do an upgrade every 'n' months and have to get your 'brain into squirrelmail mode', a prominent note about this as a must do step, can save a lot of time and force more review of plugins.
I was chasing down php errors and failing logins (blank pages) until it dawned on me that one out of over 40 plugins needed to be updated.
