#38 SMTP DNS Resolution

No

There currently exists a problem with SquirrelMail when working
with extremely locked down SMTP servers. If the SMTP server is
set to deny access to clients if their HELO line does not match
their IP address and/or reverse ARPA address, then SquirrelMail
may not function with that server. SM is setup to send the domain
name as it's HELO and not the computers hostname. Either a
way to get the hostname automatically should be invented (I
noticed when I tried to use the HOSTNAME environment variable,
the php script got a blank string), or a new config option where you
can set the hostname sent to the SMTP server should be put in
place.

Moving to current devel -- not implementing for 1.2 series.

This needs to be fixed in 1.3. What error response is the remote SMTP server returning?

Chris, any update? I 'm proposing to try to determine the
hostname automatically, and if that fails then as a fallback
only try to use the domain name in the HELO line. Will look
    into this.

I have committed a fix for this in CVS.

Mr. Hazelbaker, please let me know if this solution does not
    work for you.

Marking bug as pending & fixed.

tassium, Can you email me a copy of what you put in the CVS
and I will patch it into our server so I can let you know if
that fixes it? Sorry for the late reply...

I'm sorry, no. Just use CVS to grab a set of diffs, or use
SourceForge's "Browse CVS" to see the changes I made.
