I've composed two mails approximately with the same content: one by squirrelmail and the other by kmail (see them attached to this report).
Both mails have two attachments:
The first one has a very long name (100 x characters).
The second one's name contains 8 (at leas 8 is necessary to do the "trick") 2 byte wide utf-8 characters.
Now, the mail composed by kmail is displayed correctly by both kmail and squirrelmail.
In the case of the mail composed by sqirrelmail:
-When watched by kmail, the long filename has paretnhesises around itself and the filename has and extra space character somewhere in the middle. The filename with 8 accentuated characters is handled correctly.
-When watched my squirrelmail, the long filename has the well known extra space character but there are no embracing parenthesies. The filename with the 8 accentuated characters is handled in a more weird way:
When just displaying the message it has a leading 2; character sequence, but when I want to save the file, its name will have a leading space instead.
Weird, uh? Can you reproduce it by composing the same message on your own system?
