Hi, Does Squirrel support compiling stored procedures on Oracle 10G databases? I don't see it anywhere but just checking. Thanks in advance for any feedback on this, Thanks and Regards, Vivian |

You would need to issue a SQL statement like "alter procedure xxx compile". Rob |

Hi, I am running a query off our UDB DB2 database and I keep getting 'java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space' My associate who has AQT (Advanced Query Tool) is able to run the query in about a minute ( @ 120K records). He has the same amount of RAM as I do ( 2 GBs). Is there any workaround to this problem? I googled and found some tech notes regarding tuning the JVM. I'm not exactly sure where I should do this. Thank you in advance, Vivian |

In both cases the -Xmx256m says that your JVM is allowed to allocate a maximum amount of 256MB. Just increase the amount to your needs. Gerd |

Thank you very much Gerd ! My problem was that I wasn't using the Squirrel batch file. I have 2 GBs of RAM, so now I have increased my JVM to 1200K (this is as high as I can go). I suppose this is dependent on the size of my RAM? I am able now to run the queries for the smaller result sets. I am still not able to run our larger result sets. Is there any workaround? Am I on the right version of Java Runtime environment? Not sure if this would make any difference. See below. H:\>java -version java version "1.3.1_01" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_01) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_01, mixed mode) Thanks again, at least now I am able to run some of the queries, Vivian -----Original Message----- From: Gerd Wagner [mailto:ger...@t-...] Sent: Wednesday, October 22, 2008 6:57 PM To: Kreig, Vivian Cc: squ...@li... What SQuirreL version are you using? The current SQuirreL version requires at least JVM 1.5. Gerd |

Hi Gerd, I am using squirrel 2.6.8. My path contains: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09 But I get the 1.3 when I type java -version at the command prompt. I'm not sure if this java -version command is old...it's something I found to check when I googled. This is the right java version for SQuirreL. Do a C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\bin\java -version and you'll get the version information for the JVM that SQuirreL uses. Then in the end you are confronted with a limitation of SQuirreL. There are feature requests that ask us to read results from the DB on demand, that means when the user scrolls down through the result. This would maybe of solve your problem. Sorry for now Gerd |

Hi, I've been using the Sql Parametrization plug-in which has been working great. Each param I just preface with the : and then I get prompted. However, I have a couple problems with the following: I can't use a parameter within a CAST statement for a date or within an IN statement. I am using DB2 and it works fine with hardcoded values. Cast syntax in where clause: BETWEEN CAST(:FromDate AS DATE) AND CAST(:ToDate AS DATE) Gives error: An unexpected token "2008" was found following "_dt BETWEEN CAST(''". Expected tokens may include: "<space>". SQL Code: - 104, SQL State: 42601 IN Statement: IN (:BusUnit) Gives error: The data types of the operands for the operation "IN" are not compatible. SQL Code: -401, SQL State: 42818 Thank you in advance for any help, Vivian |
