OK, installed a Sun V6 runtime and installs runs fine (and new version
seems OK with the IBM JVM).
Before that I took a snapshot of my Squirell installation at level
3.3.0 with the updates directory at the ready, so if necessary I can
replay the update process with the IBM JVM with some more tracing code.
